This year we developed one of our most exciting mall projects so far: the Mall of Switzerland, a prime shopping and leisure destination near Luzern. Opening in fall 2017 and designed to be completely different! Talking about “Swissness“, tradition and innovation are inevitably linked to one another. We took up these values and turned them into the bridging “kaleidoscope” design theme with the hexagon as the red thread – and as the origin of the mall’s logo and design concept.     Retail Design, Store Branding, Turnkey: Schwitzke develops and builds a new concept for Chelsea Chelsea FC re-opened its flagship megastore at Stamford Bridge stadium. Schwitzke developed a branding and retail concept with lots of flair for the Premier League champions and re-built the 900 square meter fans' shop in an 8 week-period between the seasons. The implementation of the project within this extremely short period was successful thanks to the interaction of the various companies of the Schwitzke group - from the design development (Schwitzke & Partner), to in-store communication (Schwitzke Graphics) to turnkey removal (Schwitzke Project), the traditional club received full service. A better presentation of goods for increasing the turnover with stronger emotionalisation of the entire visual appearance is the backbone of the new retail concept. www.schwitzke.com

    In May 2018, the first store of the newly created brand DNA opened its doors in Abdali Mall in Amman, Jordan. The store with almost 1,000 sqm offers the best in each category such as Multimedia, Electronics and Accessories, Music, Books or Home Entertainment and Lifestyle items. Schwitzke accompanied the whole brand and retail process – from brand development, visual identity, store design and instore communication as well as the implementation.

On Hamburg’s Jungfernstieg, the Nivea Haus shines in new splendour. http://www.schwitzke-partner.com Making of Nivea: The international skin-care brand’s new store concept, already a success in Berlin, was recently realized in a prime Hamburg location with a view of the Alster. A complete refurbishment of the store gave rise to a beauty oasis in the brand colours blue and white on a total of three sales levels on Hamburg’s famous Jungfernstieg. Both the atmospheric colour scheme and the entire interior with its classic, clean flair represent the brand identity: fresh, healthy and active. The contemporary aspect is underscored by the blue multimedia Nivea ball in the entrance area. The aim of the new design was to make the brand even more tangible and simply to create a wonderful atmosphere of well-being, something that we have certainly succeeded in bringing to life.     Retail concept, retail design, instore graphics for brand reorientation: For the Austrian manufacturer of micronutrient food supplements Biogena we have been commissioned to create a concept for the pop-up store in Frankfurt’s city center. This marks the first time Biogena enters the German market and is in the process of brand reorientation. We created a retail concept and store branding with an ‘event’ feel, which presents Biogena’s range of natural products while also emphasizing its company values regarding sustainability. Directly upon entering the shop, customers feel the shop’s calm and atmospheric ambience. The few but effective elements accentuate the brand’s closeness to nature, purity, and clarity: Shelves made of untreated raw wood, simple combed wall plaster, muted shades of gray, plain wooden stools and screed with transparent coating provide a look both futuristic and close to nature. Large-format, black-and-white landscape motifs on canvas serve as unpretentious eye-catchers in the store and contribute to the authentic and reduced ambience. www.schwitzke.com

In ‘Deutsche Bank der Zukunft’ (Deutsche Bank of the Future) in Berlin’s Q110, with a total area of 1,400 square meters, financial business is conducted in a whole new ambiance. Directly behind the clean 24-hour self-service area with many glossy white surfaces, the customer enters the ‘Gallery of Wishes’. The idea behind this section is the visualization of money. Houses, cars and vacations are staged in ever-changing theme worlds. Tables for personal consultation are positioned in the forum under fabric-covered light cubes, and are meant for the quick and non-binding exchange of information between consultants and customers. Meeting rooms tailored to specific target groups reinforce the emotional approach; each room’s interior consciously designed to different from the others: - The “Starter” room presents itself with modern seat shells made of coloured plastic. - The “Modern Single” is received in a room with a mix of black wood, stainless steel and iced glass. - The “Young Family” is comfortable in a room with baked-clay elements and Mediterranean flair. - The lounge is a café as well as a zone for relaxation, and shows most clearly the concept’s communicative character.     The shopping center previously known as “Recklinghausen Arcaden” re-opened its doors under the new name “Palais Vest” on 16th September 2014. Schwitzke cooperated with management für immobilien AG to develop a holistic interior design and communications concept for the center’s 42,000 square meters.     Reopening for Tommy Hilfiger in Düsseldorf – Schwitzke Project responsible for entire refurbishment. www.schwitzke-project.com American way of life on the Rhine: After a refurbishment period of almost two months, the US lifestyle brand Tommy Hilfiger reopened its flagship store in the Rhine metropolis on 29th August 2013. At almost 1,600 square meters of sales and storage space, the renovated store is now twice its original size. Schwitzke Project, a Dusseldorf-based general contractor specialized in the interior construction of retail spaces, was responsible for the complete construction project in the heart of the ‘City of Fashion’ and carried out extensive demolition and structural works in order to combine two previously separate neighboring buildings.     Revitalized Shopping Center ‘Marstall’ Opens in Ludwigsburg Retail Concept + Storytelling: After a complete refurbishment based on a new concept, the shopping center ‘Marstall’ reopened its doors in Ludwigsburg’s city center! Schwitzke & Partner was commissioned to create a new design concept for the project developer ECE; Schwitzke Graphics developed the center’s new brand story. Marstall Center, with a total floor space of just under 26,000 square meters, houses around 70 shops. The new concept and interior design are supposed to breathe new life into the somewhat dated building complex and to attract new customers. Schwitzke was involved very early in the development of a radical repositioning strategy. During the elaboration of a comprehensive new design language - from the logo, consistent motifs and storytelling all the way to interior design - the analysis of Ludwigsburg’s historic city center was the first focus point. A baroque palace, second in size only to Versailles, is located just a few minutes from the shopping center; in the past, the surrounding area contained a multitude of horse markets and stables.     Changing rooms for FC Schalke 04: Schwitzke Graphics develops new branding and storytelling. http://www.schwitzke-graphics.com Design of FC Schalke 04’s changing rooms in the club’s stadium, Veltins-Arena. We translated the football club’s mentality into a graphic alphabet with pictograms, outlines of the players’ silhouettes and club slogans. The brand now brings the house down, just like the Schalke team during home matches. Because we can create a great atmosphere with language, writing and design. Huub Stevens, who was the team’s manager at the time of the project, talks about the new changing rooms in this interview. Kick-off for brand design: - Wall decorations and floor prints in the club’s emotional Royal-Blue CI colour - The anthracite gray alcoves for every individual player are personalized with removable wall decals before every match, depending on the line-up. - The players’ tunnel shows the faces of the club’s honorary captains and recalls great victories in the club’s history - At the tunnel’s exit to the pitch, the phrase “Go, Knappen!” provides a final motivational boost before kick-off.     EuroShop Retail Trade Fair 2014: This year’s EuroShop trade fair was exceptionally well attended and counted numerous international exhibitors and visitors. The fair was an opportunity for us to establish contact to business partners in every part of the world. The result is a fresh and fashion-oriented visual language, including a making-of.     Laudation at TW Forum 2014 award ceremony: On 7th May 2014, Klaus Schwitzke, a member of the judging panel for Textilwirtschaft’s Forum Prize, gave the laudation for the trade fair “Munich Fabric Start”, which won the prize in the Services category. The prizes for outstanding companies from the fashion industry were awarded in front of an audience of 600 guests at the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg. Apart from Munich Fabric Start, the prizes were awarded to Zalando, an online retailer from Berlin, Nudie Jeans, a denim brand from Gothenburg, and Breuninger, a multi-label retailer from Stuttgart.   • Design for Pasing Arcaden – New concept for tenant façades

    Design for shopping center: We developed new guidelines for the mall design of ‘Pasing Arcaden’ shopping center in Munich, as well as an innovative façade concept for the tenants’ store fit-out. http://www.schwitzke.com The mall is characterized by its individual and varied façade design: Closed façades, protruding and recessed elements, open façades with wide entrances, display case elements - a variety of possible scenarios were available to the approx. 100 tenants on 21,000 square meters of floor space, offering the brands diversity, vivacity and individuality for their appearance on this retail stage. For each of the three shopping levels, the mall’s design presents an individual realm of themes and a clear appeal to the target groups. ‘Pasing Arcaden’ shopping center, developed by Essen’s mfi Management für Immobilien AG, won the ICSC award for “Europe’s best new shopping center” and the International Property Award for “Best international retail development”. From the development of story boards via location scouting all the way to the booking of models and the photographer, we were responsible for all creative services for this photo shoot in our role as Art Director. We also created an atmospheric making-of for the client’s social-media activities, as well as interviews, fashion details and a clip about Majorca.     ‘Eloise’ contest: In cooperation with Peter Behrens School of Architecture, Schwitzke & Partner awarded its first retail design prize to the best students. http://www.schwitzke-partner.com The contest’s participants were faced with the task of designing a consistent and creative shop concept: Based on an actual construction project for the German fashion brand Hallhuber in the new ‘Kö-Bogen’ department store in Düsseldorf, store concepts were developed for the fictional brand ELOISE with the aim of creating a new ‘home’ for the brand. In addition to design aspects, the students also had to consider economic factors. The emerging design talent received the necessary input through a series of lectures on retail design, for which Schwitzke invited the following prominent guest speakers: - Elke Freudenberg, managing director of the agency Visual Merchandising VM², lectured on the topic “The Significance of Merchandising”. - Professor Edgar Rosenberger, owner of Retail Brand Service Business Consulting, introduced the “Retail Store as a Component of Brand Communications”. - Klaus Schwitzke, managing director of Schwitzke & Partner, explained the most important aspects of “Store Design” by means of a practical example. - Norbert Steinke, CEO of Hallhuber, explained the “Microeconomic Parameters of a Store Concept”.     Time-lapse video of the construction works in the Werder Bremen fan shop: A football club becomes a brand thanks to its new store design. http://www.schwitzke.com The Bundesliga club Werder Bremen sets new standards for the marketing of fan merchandise in its fan shop, which is located on two levels of the fan block in the club’s Weser Stadium. The groundkeeper’s old bicycle stands in a corner; a garage door displays ball imprints made by the club’s pro players; green stadium shell seats are installed in the changing rooms. A penalty kicker patented by Schwitzke gets the fans’ pulse racing – just like they were really in a stadium in front of the much too small goal. Along the wall, graffiti by local sprayers document the trophies won in the club’s long history. Large-scale photos of the fan block reflect the atmosphere in the stadium on match day. Werder Bremen, a club like a family – this emotional world truly comes alive in the fan shop.     Douglas opening in Berlin: In an attractive location in Berlin, the new store design presents numerous visual highlights. Schwitzke & Partner developed a retail concept with an interactive store design. www.schwitzke-partner.com At the opening of the Douglas store in Berlin, guests were greeted by a sea of light and colours. An LED strip spanning the entire sales space can be programmed randomly – plays of colours, film clips, or seasonal animations. It visually picks up on the brand’s range of products and puts the emphasis on the highlights of Berlin’s ‘cosmetics Mecca’ in Tauentzienstraße 16. In the store’s 700 square meters, Douglas presents itself with a whole new retail concept. Besides the store design, we developed the façade design based on original plans from the 1950s.   • Schwitzke RLI Awards 2015 Winner Virgin Megastore Abu Dhabi Yas Mall

    Our store design for the Virgin Concept Store in Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi was awarded twice at this year’s RLI Awards: In the category “Retail Destination”, we received the rating “Highly commended”, i.e. second place; in the “Interior Excellence” category, our design won first place and received the “Winner” award! The award ceremony took place in Dubai – Karl Schwitzke and the team from our Dubai Office accepted the trophy together with Virgin, our client. Congratulations!
